Things to do in Houston on July 4th – Best of the best celebrations for fireworks, parades & more
With an average turnout of 50,000 people and live Houston television coverage, this event has established itself as Houston’s yearly distinctive July 4th celebration. Freedom Over Texas will be held in person this year along Allen Parkway for six hours of festivities, customs, and live music venues. It will include performances by local, regional, and international artists, and it will be topped off by a musically orchestrated fireworks finale that is “Texas-sized.”
The music lineup includes Step Rideau and the Zydeco Outlaws, Walker County, a country sister duo, and rapper Blanco Brown, country music band Sawyer Brown followed by headliner Clay Walker!!!
In addition to the great music, there will be lots of fun for everyone to look forward to including a Kids Zone, and the Dr. Pepper Cool Zone, featuring Houston professional sports teams, live music, and food.

Celebrate Independence Day at The Crown Festival Park with patriotic family fun and activities for all ages! Sugar Land will have a variety of great food, activities, photo opportunities, vendor booths, live musical entertainment and of course, a dazzling firework display to conclude the celebration.
Gates open at 5 p.m. Entertainment, food and activities will take place from 6 – 8:45 p.m. Fireworks will begin at approximately 9 p.m.
Localite Houston Tip: Number of guests are limited to parking and shuttling capacities. Secure your spot early after the gates open at 5 pm. Shuttle locations: University of Houston-Sugar Land and Smart Financial Centre

Want to enjoy a different type of July 4th experience? Make plans to visit Galveston!!! Galveston Island makes a fantastic setting for the July 4th parade which takes place on Seawall Boulevard!
The evening of July 4 will see the annual Independence Day parade which will include floats, adorned cars, and performers. Starting at 59th Street and concluding at 27th Street, a procession on Seawall Boulevard will begin the parade at 6 o’clock in the evening.
After the parade, the island will host brand-new drone shows over the Gulf of Mexico at 9PM and 10:30PM near 37th Street and Seawall Boulevard. Among the top things to do in Houston this week with family!!!
