This Juneteenth exhibit informs both locals and visitors about the significance of the 1865  Galveston story. It’s a chance to connect the important neighborhood landmarks and their significance in Galveston’s past. Galvestonians have always known about Juneteenth, but now that it is a recognized national holiday, more tourists may explore Ashton Villa and learn about the significance of the island to American freedom.

When: Open Thursday-Saturday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Sunday, noon – 5 p.m. (Please arrive by 4 p.m. to allow ample time for tour before closing.)

Ship to Shore

Based on real, verified accounts of immigrants arriving in Galveston, the Ship to Shore experience develops a number of sequential experiential spaces that alternate interactive learning with immersive encounters. A digital membership card is also used in the experience, which gives each guest a unique and real tale during their stay.

It is one of the most prominent Victorian homes in the nation, according to architectural historians. Due to its national significance in the field of architecture, the home is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
