Pop Culture Extravaganza Comicpalooza returns to Houston this Summer

Comicpalooza is returning to Houston after being cancelled last year owing to the pandemic.

Get your dress robes out because the grand pop culture convention, Comicpalooza is back in Houston this year to feed your inner geek with some trivia, great activities and exciting conversations with your favorite celebrities!

Comicpalooza Houston began in 2008 and since then was cancelled once, last year, due to the coronavirus pandemic. But for 2021, the pop culture extravaganza has returned to Houston promising all things fun in what is surely one of Texas’ biggest pop conventions.

To be held at the George R. Brown Convention Center, the convention will go on for two days from Saturday, 17 July to Sunday 18 July.

At Houston’s Comicpalooza, you can enter the cosplay contest with your kids in tow.

From dressing up as Sabrina, the young witch to gathering your own Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. gang, the pop con gives you an opportunity to become your most loved characters, and show off your amazing cosplay skills. And don’t forget, your efforts will not go waste because your get-up can just have a shot at winning at the convention’s thrilling cosplay contest.

Do remember that this year along with the costume, visitors will also be required to wear a mask. This is a cool opportunity to spark up your creativity and come up with a protective mask that goes with your cosplay.

Comicpalooza 2021 promises to have an exciting lineup of celebrities for visitors to interact with.

Visitors at Comicpalooza can look forward to spotting some really talented actors and celebrities during the two-day festival.

Carl Weathers who appears in the Rocky Series, in Predator and in Arrested Development among others is scheduled to appear as is Tati Gabrielle who features in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, YOU and The Owl House. Mario Lopez, Ron Perlman, Katee Sackhoff are also among the line-up along with Ming-Na Wen who stars in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and The Mandalorian. You can bid at the silent auction during the live art event where all your proceedings will be donated to a charity that supports the local community of artists.

There are a ton of programs for you to choose from at Comicpalooza 2021 including interesting panel discussions, immersive experiences, retro games, a live art auction and lots more.

At the live art auction, for instance, Comicpalooza artists will come together to produce works whose proceeds will be directed towards Fresh Arts, a charity that gives a boost to the local artist community. What’s exciting about this event is that audiences can actually watch the artists at work and bid on their artworks at a silent auction taking place simultaneously. 

And in the Retro Gaming tournament, participants can gather around to fight it out at the consoles on the second floor of the convention center and revisit some old classics.

Tickets and other details

The Comicpalooza VIP pass that costs $225 gives 30-minute early access to the convention’s exhibit hall, a swag bag and 2-day admission to the festival. 

The Adult Saturday and Adult Sunday Pass gives entry into each day for $61 and $54 respectively. 

The Children’s 2-day pass costs just $5 and gives the kids general admission into the convention for both days of the festival.
