Our world has been turned upside down in just about every imaginable way in the past few weeks, and one of the most difficult transitions to navigate has been in education as schools have closed their doors and teachers are educating students remotely. It’s an immensely challenging time for students and teachers alike. As a way of saying thank you and showing support for the hardworking educators who are devoted to their children’s success during these hard times, actress Reese Witherspoon’s clothing company is donating free dresses to teachers.

“Dear Teachers: We want to say thank you. During quarantine, we see you working harder than ever to educate our children,” Witherspoon’s clothing line Draper James wrote in a post on Instagram. “To show our gratitude, Draper James would like to give teachers a free dress.”

While the deadline to apply for a free dress has already passed, we wanted to highlight this great act of kindness from the clothing line during these hard times. Teachers who applied and were selected to receive a free dress will be announced tomorrow, Tuesday, April 7th.

Witherspoon said, “These past few weeks have shown me so much about humanity. I have been so encouraged by the ways people are showing up for each other. Particularly the teachers. During quarantine, teachers are broadcasting lessons from their own homes and figuring out new remote-learning technology and platforms on the fly, all while continuing to educate and connect with our kids. Advocating for the children of the world is no easy task, so I wanted to show teachers a little extra love right now.”

Witherspoon’s kind offering is only the most recent from the fashion and beauty industry as numerous companies are showing their support for essential workers by offering everything from free shoes to free scrubs to free bridal gowns.

It’s great to see so many companies doing their part to support essential workers during these times.
