Royal Caribbean’s new terminal, Terminal 3, is under construction, and a new artist concept rendering of the terminal and the areas surrounding it has been released – and it looks cool!

Some features in the new terminal will incorporate the latest technology, including mobile check-in and facial recognition to accelerate guest arrivals and sustainable design and development to meet LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental) certification standards.

The pandemic delayed the terminal’s construction. However, the work started in April 2021 on 10-acres of land that will soon serve as the home to Allure of the Seas. It was just last month that Royal Caribbean restarted operations from Galveston.

Royal Caribbean New Terminal – Developer, Features, Cost

Terminal 3 will be built at Pier 10 and will be reserved for use only by Royal Caribbean. It appears that Bermello Ajamil & Partners Inc. are the architects that will work on the project. The main building has a prominent display of the logo of Royal Caribbean, featured against several shades of blue around a circular design.

The cost of the terminal is estimated to go up to $100 million, and the terminal will cover 150,000 square feet. When the project was announced, Royal Caribbean said Terminal 3 would be sufficiently large to handle the company’s largest cruise ships, including an Oasis Class ship or one of the new Icon Class ships.

Contract Target Completion Date

The target completion date is September 1, 2022, to complete the terminal. It is ahead of November 13, 2022, which is the planned arrival of the Allure of the Seas. The Port of Galveston has been working on its part of the project throughout the pandemic. It is on track to support the project with utilities, dredging, road and traffic improvements, landscaping, parking lots, etc.
