The Heights community is a charming neighborhood with eclectic shops, art galleries, and cottage-style homes.  A few holiday traditions kick off this weekend in the Heights:

Holiday on 19th Street: The 19th Street merchants kick off the season with holiday refreshments, carolers, and even Santa Claus Friday, December 3, from 6 p.m. – 10 p.m.  This street features some of my favorite stores including Sew Crafty and Jubilee!

The 19th Street merchants are partnering with Star of Hope to collect blankets and toys. Bring a blanket or toy to these stores during the event December 3 and receive a free gift or discount. These merchants will be collecting donations all week if you can’t make it to the Friday evening festivities.

2010 Houston Heights Holiday Home Tour: Six homes will be open for the Houston Heights Holiday Home tour complete with holiday decorations.  Docents will be on hand to describe history and architecture of the homes.  Purchase an advance ticket for $20 online or at several Heights businesses including Bliss on 19th, Heights Antiques on Yale, and Buchanan’s Native Plants.  Tickets are $25 at the door.  Tour times are Friday, December 3, from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. and Saturday, December 4, from 3 p.m. – 9 p.m.
