You don’t have to be Irish to enjoy St. Patrick’s Day fun. Here are a couple of big celebrations in Houston this year:

green beerLucky’s Pub — It’s Houston’s largest St. Patrick’s Day party in Houston now with three Lucky’s Pub locations! Festivities at the St. Patrick’s Day block party at Lucky’s Pub in downtown Houston kick off 9 am March 17 with breakfast, including Lucky Charms and breakfast tacos. Bars open at 10 am for those starting their green drinks early in the day. (Be careful, folks!) No cover for general admission before 3 pm downtown. The block party features 15 bands and 6 DJs, bagpipers, leprechauns and more! Radio 94.5 will be broadcasting live all day. Purchase advance tickets online and skip the lines. Lucky’s Pub is located at 801 St. Emanuel in east downtown Houston. photo: flickr/leyla.a

Lucky’s Pub in the Heights and Cypress will be hosting their own St. Patrick’s Day fun. Both of these locations will offer 40,000 sq. ft of festival space with live music, drinks, and fun. Find the schedule of bands online here. The new location in the Heights is at 2520 Houston Ave at White Oak. The Cypress location is out Hwy 290 past Mueschke Road, 27126 Northwest Freeway.

Washington Avenue bars — Three neighboring bars on Washington Avenue — Little J’s, Underdogs, and Lava Rock — are partnering to host a St. Patrick’s Day block party March 17. The party starts at 12 noon, lasts until 10 pm with no cover charge. Each bar will feature $3 Green Bud Light, $3 margaritas, and $1 Jello shots — and of course, the Irish favorites. Don’t miss the Bud Light Bagpipers who will make appearances throughout the day. Food trucks will also be on hand in the parking lot. Each bar will offer a different experience, as well, such as Little J’s with live music, face/body painting, and Crawfish Boil. The block party is on Washington Avenue east of Shepherd.
