thanksgiving on a dime health museum
Thanksgiving may be the last week of the month this year, but it will still be here before you know it! And if you’re like us, you’ve definitely been overwhelmed with not only preparing the big meal, but thinking about the cost as well. Always concerned with our well-being, The Health Museum has two more “Thanksgiving on a Dime” events planned before the big day so you can figure out how to give thanks without blowing your budget.

We love to go all out for the holidays. It’s part of the way we show those close to us how much we love them. And while love may be free, turkey and green bean casserole and cranberry sauce are, unfortunately, not. That’s where The Health Museum comes in. For the next two Thursdays – November 14 and November 21 – they’re hosting special “Thanksgiving on a Dime” events on Free Family Thursdays from 2 to 6 p.m.
This cost-conscious event series will feature live cooking demonstrations with Houston-area chefs who are excited to teach you and your family how to prepare a delicious and healthy Thanksgiving feast without breaking the bank. But this is not just a sit-back-and-watch kind of thing. Guests will have their own cooking skills tested by the professionals, so come ready to show off your kitchen abilities! But whether you impress or not, you’ll still walk away with a lesson in food, health, and nutrition.

When and Where

So mark your calendars for one date or both! You’ll walk away knowing how to prepare a Thanksgiving Day meal for four for only $20! University of Houston’s Professor Ann Sanchez will host an interactive food demonstration and explain exactly how to stretch your pennies when making meals for the holidays. And don’t forget – museum admission is free on Thursdays for families after 2 p.m.

  • Thursday, November 14 from 2 to 6 p.m.
  • Thursday, November 21 from 2 to 6 p.m.
    • Attend on this date and you’ll also get the chance to see a cooking competition judged by local chefs.
