The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston is welcoming guests for a European holiday experience this season at Rienzi, the MFAH house museum for European decorative arts. All month long, Rienzi will be decorated with holiday decor sure to transport guests to continental Europe as they tour the galleries. In addition, Rienzi is hosting special events offering Houstonians a unique holiday experience.
On Wednesday, December 12 and Wednesday, December 19, Rienzi is hosting Twilight Tours, special evenings of art, stimulating conversations, and live music that allow visitors to discover what Rienzi has to offer at night. Visitors can stroll the galleries or relax on the terrace with hors d’oeuvres and a complimentary glass of wine. Twilight Tours are from 6 to 8 p.m. and admission is $25 for adults or $22 for Museum of Fine Arts, Houston members. Tickets can be purchased online in advance.
On Wednesday, December 26, Rienzi is extending the holiday season by throwing a special Boxing Day celebration. Boxing Day is an English holiday celebrated throughout the British Commonwealth nations and named after the Christmas boxes given out to the needy or those in service industries. Today, Boxing Day is primarily known as a shopping holiday in the the UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
Boxing Day at Rienzi runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will feature English Christmas traditions, warm beverages, and live holiday music and performances. To help educate guests about Boxing Day, the event will also feature an afternoon lecture and hands-on art activities. Admission to Boxing Day at Rienzi is $10 for adults, $8 for MFAH members/seniors/kids 13-18, and free for kids 12 and under. Tickets can be purchased online in advance from the MFAH website.
