Ghost Tour with the Author of “Ghosts of Galveston”

What: Join Kathleen Maca, the author of “Ghosts of Galveston” for a tour of Galveston’s Strand Street on the first Friday the 13th of the year! While taking a leisurely stroll, Maca will be sharing stories of some of the island’s most famous ghosts. This includes 1900 storm victims, a murderess, spirits of civil war soldiers, and more who are unwilling to part from their Galveston.

Remember to wear comfy clothes. And please take note, no videos or audio recordings are allowed during the tour, however, photos are highly encouraged. The meeting place is in front of the Shearn Moody Plaza Building at the intersection of 25th and Strand.

What: Want to get ready for the 12th Annual Funky Uptown Umbrella Brigade early? Join the Galveston Art Center’s annual umbrella decorating party this Saturday! Umbrellas and art supplies will be provided at the venue. 

Brigaders with their very own decorated umbrellas will be granted FREE entry into the Entertainment District on Friday, February 10. If you win the contest, you will lead the Umbrella Brigade and will be featured at the Bryan Museum’s Special Mardi Gras exhibit.
