What: Calling all fishing enthusiasts in Galveston! The annual black drum fishing tournament at Seawolf Park is back! The winner will win an annual fishing pass + parking. The second placeholder will get an annual fishing pass. And the third and fourth placers will get $200 + 6-month fishing pass, parking not included and $100 + 6-month parking pass, fishing not included respectively. Make sure to check out the rules so you don’t get disqualified.

Everybody’s Essential 5k/1k Fun Run Fest

What: Run, walk, or stroll for a great cause this weekend at the “Everybody’s Essential” 5k/1k Fun Run Fest at Menard Park! The event aims for the community to understand and learn that no matter a person’s disabilities, everyone is essential. In addition to the run, there will also be tons of fun things to do like yard games, a cornhole tournament, food vendors, face painting, raffles, and so many more.

Preservation U: Native Planting Workshop

What: Learn about the whys and hows of native planting and explore its relationship with historic preservation this weekend with Pricilla Files, Executive Director of The Island Tree Conservancy, and Cindee Travis Klement, Houston-based Artist, educator, and naturalist. They’ll be taking you through everything you need to know, especially if you have plans to start gardening at home.

What: Get to know more about Galveston and its art scene through the Galveston Art Walk! Happening every six to eight weeks, this walk will take you through Galveston’s beautiful art spaces including downtown galleries, artists’ studios, nonprofits, and even some local businesses. The event is free for everyone to participate in.

ArtWalk at MOD: Gregg Ludwig and The Bayou on Film

What: Enjoy different kinds of art forms this weekend at this event. Gregg Ludwig, an art teacher at Parker Elementary will be presenting his three-dimensional artwork from 6 pm to 9 pm. Then, The Bayou on Film, featuring two aspiring songwriters from South Texas, Nato Berrones and Stephanie Gonzalez will be serenading the crowd with their eclectic sound of Grunge Rock meets acid tones and beats.

Touch a Truck

What: Head out with the kids this weekend for the Galveston Fire Department’s first annual touch-a-truck event! This event will feature more than ten different types of trucks and vehicles that the city uses daily to serve its residents. Other activities to enjoy include a fire truck bounce house, face painting, a coloring station, and a popcorn station.

The show will then be followed by a Q&A. You’re also encouraged to be comfortable so wearing your house shoes is encouraged.
