This Tuesday, Asia Society Texas Center will be presenting “Blurring the Color Line” a film that explores the experiences of Asian Americans in the South during the Jim Crow era. It’s inspired by the grocery store of Crystal Kwok’s grandmother in segregated Augusta, Georgia. There, the family grew up in a predominantly Black neighborhood and in the film, they share their personal experiences that exposes the problematic, racialized society.
The film showcases both perspectives from the Chinese and Black communities and opens up uncomfortable but necessary conversations between marginalized groups.
