An interactive, movable project called the BioArt Bayou-torium is located in a repurposed shipping container. The Buffalo Bayou ecosystem inspired East End artist Henry G. The 9th annual Indigenous Peoples Day celebration will be held at Tony Marron Park this weekend. Calmecac Tonantzin Yolilitzyotl will lead an Azteca/Mexica dance, and the public is invited to join. There will also be a pipe ceremony, a water blessing along Buffalo Bayou, traditional songs, and an acknowledgment of the land that indigenous communities have inhabited for a very long time. Speaker Elder Lucille Contreras, founder and CEO of the Texas Tribal Buffalo Project will be a distinguished guest at the ceremonies. The public is welcome to attend this program.
