Sugar Land has no shortage of fun and free parks! Oyster Creek Park and Lost Creek Park back up to one another to bring you miles of green space and activities. Cullinan Park is a nature preserve and offers an observation deck. Or, you can check out the dog park and riverfront at Sugar Land Memorial Park. Get your fix of science and natural history without the need to go downtown! Houston Museum of Natural Science Sugar Land is curated inside of a renovated prison from the 1900s, this is a smaller version than the main museum in Houston but it still has plenty to see. General admission is only $12 for adults and $9 for kids. Purchase additional admission to their special exhibits like the Dig Pit where kids can unearth dinosaur bones for $3. Visit the Fort Bend’s Children’s Discovery Center for one of Sugar Land’s hidden gems. Many of the exhibits are similar to the Children’s Museum downtown but without the crowd. There is plenty to see, from the Totspot to Kidtropolis, kids of all ages can have a blast.
For a daily dose of culture and architecture, visit some of Sugar Land’s most beautiful temples open to the public. The BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir is a Hindu temple is serene and stunning with its bright white and intricately carved marble. No need to wait for Thursdays- The Sugar Land Art Center & Gallery is free and open to the public Monday through Friday! Admission to the Sugar Land Heritage Foundation Museum is also free. Learn about the History of Sugar Land through interactive displays, oral histories, artifacts, and more. A walking tour is free for kids under 12, $5 for older children, and just $10 for adults!

From boot camps to free concerts, Sugar Land Town Square really does have it all. It’s one of the best places in Sugar Land to eat, shop, and play. The outdoor shopping center has dozens of retail stores for men, women, children, and hobbyists. When you’ve exhausted yourself, you can cool off in any of their amazing restaurants. The large green space hosts everything from weekly Toddler Musical hours to free concerts, and more.
Every week, head on down to the Farmer’s Market at Imperial. Whether you are looking for farm-fresh produce small-batch bakeries, or natural bath products, you will never run out of new and kitschy things to find. The Farmer’s Market also has live music, pop up chefs, and a rotation of food trucks so you won’t go hungry or bored!
One of the most unique weekend venues for food and fun in Sugar Land is the Redneck Country Club. Enjoy some Southern soul food and an ice cold beer while you listen to live shows from local and national artists from Willie Nelson and Pat Green to Texas Contraband.
