SATURDAY

View WWII planes and museum — Don’t miss your chance totour the WWII Museumand visit the Hangar of the Houston Wing of the Commemorative Air Force. It’s a great chance to get up close to the Wing’s flyable WWII military aircraft: climb into a cockpit of a WWII trainer or go inside a WWII Paratroop aircraft. This is a free event the 1st and 3rd Saturday at the West Houston Airport from 10 am – 3 pm. Located 2 miles north of I-10 east off Barker Cypress on Groschke Rd.

SUNDAY

Engage with art — Kids will enjoy a free afternoon at Children’s Texas Art Festival celebrating art—created by and for children—that helps connect Texas and American heritage. Families are invited to enjoy art-making workshops, participate in a collaborative group project, play interactive games, and see demonstrations that emphasize the way art keeps everyone connected to the past and improves the present. Located at Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens, 6003 Memorial.

Get soccer training — Kids ages 5-10 are encouraged to participate in free soccer training Sundays at The Square at Memorial City, 3 pm – 5 pm. Houston Dynamo Jr. Academy provides training focused on developing players technical skills. Located at The Square at Memorial City between Maggiano’s and The Cheesecake Factory.

Celebrate Arbor Day — Head to Humble for Jesse H. Jones Park and Nature Center’s Arbor Day celebration, January 21, 10 am – 4 pm. Activities and events highlight local forest trees and include information on tree planting and care. Take home a free sapling, to boot! Located at 20634 Kenswick, Humble.
