Love the ballet — Houston Ballet presents Madame Butterfly in this free outdoor performance Friday, 8 pm, at Miller Outdoor Theatre. This repeats Saturday and Sunday, 8 pm. Free covered reserved seats are available on performance day 10:30 am – 1 pm at the Miller Box office. Located at 6000 Hermann Park Dr.

Listen to live music — Enjoy live music at Central Green Park beginning at 7:45 pm. Located at 23501 Cinco Ranch Blvd. in Katy.

Learn improv — Take a free Improv class, thanks to Station Theater’s Intro to Improv every Friday, 7:30 pm. All Intro students are then invited to stay to watch Supernova Armando show for free ($6 value), a fast-paced comedy show with a guest monologist. Register your free spot online.

SATURDAY

Get fit — Enjoy free workout classes at Bagby Park in Midtown the 2nd and 4th Saturday each month. Choose from the High Intensity Interval Training at 9:30 am or the Yoga Flow at 10:30 am. This is for all fitness levels. Classes are weather permitting. Located at 415 Gray St.

Celebrate our petsHouston Pet Expo returns to NRG this weekend for two days full of fun! Free admission + pets are welcome! The weekend features live entertainment, obedience demonstrations, free nail trims, author readings, book signings, rescue groups onsite for adoptions, pet vendors, prize giveaways, discounted vaccinations and more. Saturday hours are 10 am – 5 pm, Sunday is 11 am – 4 pm. Located at NRG Center.

Learn to be a leader — Teens can participate in a Youth Leadership Series sponsored by Benedictine Tutors. This month’s topic relates to Leaders of Tomorrow — in Politics. A DJ also will be onsite. Hours are 11 am – 1 pm.

Engage with STEM — Girlstart Inc. leads a fun hands-on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education program, STEM Saturdays, for kids each Saturday at 12:30 pm at Discovery Green. Space is limited to 60 on a first-come, first-serve basis. Located at 1500 McKinney.

Enjoy outdoor fun — It’s two free events in one in historic Richmond Saturday from 9 am – 3 pm! Motor Madness features a DJ, food trucks, plus the car show awards at 2 pm. The Art Walk along Morton & 3rd includes art cars, two live music stages, community arts project, Plein Air painters plus exhibiting artists showcasing their work in participating shops on Morton. Learn to fly fish — Orvis offers free Fly-Fishing 101 and 201 classes at its retail stores. Sign up for the basic class Saturday and advanced class Sunday. Perfect for the whole family. Kids age 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult. RSVP if you want to attend. Orvis is located at 5727 Westheimer and in The Woodlands at 9595 Six Pines Drive.

Enjoy family fun — 2nd Saturday at the Depot is a family-oriented event held the second Saturday each month. From themed arts and crafts, to games, music and a movie under the stars on the giant inflatable screen, 2nd Saturday is fun for the entire family. This month’s movie is Finding Dory. The fun begins at 6 pm with the movie starting at 7:30 pm. Located at 201 S. Elm in Tomball.

Watch outdoor movies on the big screen — 1) LaCenterra: Catch a free screening of Cheaper by the Dozen Saturday, beginning at dusk, thanks to Alamo Drafthouse Rolling Roadshow. 2) Tomball: Enjoy Finding Dory at Tomball’s Second Saturday at The Depot. Fun begins at 6 pm with movie at dusk. Located at 201 S. Elm.
