Celebrate the Houston Astros — The city is throwing a Houston Astros World Series Championship Parade for the Astros players and fans Friday, 2 pm, beginning at Smith and Lamar. Salute our servicemen — The City of Kemah and Kemah Boardwalk are hosting Salute to Military Service all weekend. Military can take advantage of 50% of All-Day, All-Ride passes Friday – Sunday. The 3-day event features military exhibits, interactive tours, K-9 demonstrations, live music, Coast Guard Air Sea Rescue, movie screening and more. Friday events feature a parade at 3 pm and live music from 5 pm – 9 pm. Find the schedule online. Kemah Boardwalk is located at 215 Kipp.

Love live music — Head to WFDD’s Central Green Park Friday for live music under the stars! This concert line-up features country artist Jason V Chapman, and special guest WFDD Talent Showcase finalist, Cally Moudry. Music begins at 7 pm. Located at 23501 Cinco Ranch Blvd.

SATURDAY

Have a dog day with your pup — Special mutts and pure-bred pups can strut their stuff at Bark in the Park, a hike for hounds at Grand Central Park, Saturday, 8 am – noon. Humans and their pups can meet at the at 8 am for a canine-friendly walk on Conroe community’s new trail system. Folks also can enjoy Houston Disc Dogs, music, contests, pet vendors, food trucks, face painting and a bounce house. Located at Camp Strake, Camp Strake Rd. in Conroe.

Engage with books — Fort Bend County Libraries hosts Fort Bend County Book Festival November 4, from 10 am to 2 pm.  The event celebrates books, authors and the importance of literature for both children and adults. The FBCL Book Festival features literary readings, book signings, children’s theater performance, marionette performance, book sale and a publishing workshop. Headlining authors include local authors Pat Miller and Judithe Little. Located at George Memorial Library, 1001 Golfview, in Richmond.

Learn about fiber —  Bring the family to Hands-On Houston Family Festival, a free community event from 11 am- 3 pm at Houston Center for Contemporary Craft (HCCC). This year the free festival celebrates fiber with hands-on activities, live demonstrations and fall exhibitions in the gallery. Visitors will not only learn a variety of fiber techniques but also have the chance to create wet-felted bracelets and sew a wall hanging. Located at 4848 Main St.

Love wildflowers — Don’t miss The Woodlands Wildflower Festival, 10 am – 2 pm, features environmental exhibits, community booths and nature-related items, live music, free giant inflatable rides, petting zoo, face painting and balloon art. Kids will love visiting The Woodlands mascot Puffy Pine Cone. Located at 2099 Lake Robbins Drive in The Woodlands.

Browse and create art — Head downtown for Art at Discovery Green, a two-day event featuring 75 craft artists, live music, craft activities for kids and adults and beer garden. Hours are 10 am – 6 pm Saturday and 10 am – 5 pm Sunday. The event will feature an auction of the Houston Strong weaving created by The Color Condition in response to Hurricane Harvey. All proceeds will benefit the Harvey Arts Recovery Fund.

Love STEM — Girlstart leads STEM Saturdays, a hands-on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education program for kids Saturdays, 12:30 pm, at Discovery Green. Explore the forces of buoyancy, aerodynamic lift and gravity in this week’s session. Test your device in a giant wind tunnel! Space is limited to 40 kids. Parent must accompany child. Explore other cultures — Celebrate diversity at iFest Live 2017 from 10 am-2 pm at Sugar Land Town Square. This international festival features booths representing various countries and regions, performances and dances by local organizations, international food and beverages available for purchase, face painting and henna artist and roaming characters.

Celebrate the artsFirst Saturday Arts Market returns Saturday from 11 am – 6 pm. This monthly outdoor market features original art, music and fun in the Heights. Located at 540 W. 19th.

Relive history— Tour the WWII Museum and visit the Hangar of the Houston Wing of the Commemorative Air Force Saturday, 10 am – 3 pm. It’s a great chance to get up close to the Wing’s five flyable WWII military aircraft: climb into a cockpit of a WWII trainer or go inside a WWII Paratroop aircraft. Located at West Houston Airport, 2 miles north of I-10 east off Barker Cypress on 18000 Groschke Rd.

These museum concerts feature interactive concert formats and fun musical selections. The programs often celebrate specific artworks on display in the museum. This month is a 30 year celebration for both Da Camera and The Menil. Located at The Menil, 1533 Sul Ross.

Get down at the dog marketDOG POP offers a plethora of fun for Houston dog lovers Saturday, 5 pm – 10 pm! The dog-friendly market and pup party includes a pet costume contest, dog play area from Modular Dog, pet vendors, DJs spinning tunes, wine and beer, food truck, plus photo booth stations from Steel City Pops and Birds Barbershop. The event is free, with a suggested minimum donation of $5 to benefit the Houston Homeless Pet Project. Located at 420 E. 20th St. in the Heights.

Watch an interactive movie at Miller — Don’t miss this special evening Saturday, 7 pm, led by Heather Henson, Jim Henson’s daughter. The event is Sing Along with The Muppet Movie. It’s a live show full of interactive surprises like bubbles, streamers, kites, confetti pops and characters coming right out of the film into the audience! Party in the streetSunday Streets Houston returns this month on Gulfton (Bellaire Blvd.) from Hillcroft to Chimney Rock!
