Turnpike Troubadours – The most well-known red dirt music band
The Turnpike Troubadours are an Oklahoma-born band that has dominated the red dirt music scene, especially in Texas, for the greater part of the past ten years, packing dance halls and venues all over the state. The most well-known red dirt music band today, with lead vocalist Evan Felker, bassist R.C. Edwards, fiddler Kyle Nix, guitarist Ryan Engleman, drummer Gabe Pearson, and steel player Hank Early, performs more than 100 shows annually.
Ballads of small-town love, challenge, loss, and sorrow are brought to life by the band’s distinctive sound and Felker’s impeccable songwriting ability. These songs go beyond simply writing harmonies to create compelling narratives with recurring, relatable characters. The band’s most well-known character, Lorrie, appears in a number of their hits, including “Good Lord Lorrie,” “The Mercury,” and most recently, “The Housefire” from their most recent record, A Long Way from Your Heart. Turnpike Troubadours’ hits share a common emotional relatability that keeps fans going back for more year after year.
After a few years away, the band is making a major comeback with five studio albums under their belt, well over a million daily listeners on Spotify, and two top-five songs. Fans of RODEOHOUSTON® will be treated to The Turnpike Troubadours’ second show on March 11th.
TOP FIVE SONGS: “7 & 7,” “Long Hot Summer Day,” “Good Lord Lorrie,” “Every Girl,” “Gin, Smoke, Lies,”
