Don’t miss these 7 options for free fun in Houston August 7 – August 11 before planning your free and cheap weekend!

Tuesday (8/8) — Don’t miss Crocodile Encounter Tuesday, 10:30 am, at Heights Library. The program features a hands-on reptile program including turtles, snakes, crocodiles, alligators and more. It’s educational and fun! No registration required but space is limited to room capacity. Located in the Heights Library Meeting Room, 1302 Heights Blvd.

Tuesday (8/8) — Head to Central Green Park for Reading Camp on the Green. Children are invited to bring their blanket, favorite book and their imagination! Kids can read in a teepee or around the campfire! This is geared to toddlers to elementary-aged children. Located at Central Green Park, 23501 Cinco Ranch Blvd.

Tuesday (8/8) — Catch a free movie screening of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone Tuesday, 8:30 pm, at Miller Outdoor Theatre. This event is non-ticketed, including the covered seating area. As always, open seating on the hill. The shows goes on rain or shine. Located at 6000 Hermann Park Dr.

Wednesday (8/9) — It’s the last week of The Big Show, an annual exhibit of new work at Lawndale Art Center by artists practicing within 100 miles. Juror Toby Kamps reviewed work by 549 artists and selected nearly 200 for the exhibition. Introducing the “Rate of Change” as its organizing principle, The Big Show 2017 focuses on works of art addressing change and made within the last change-filled year. Lawndale is open noon – 6 pm Wednesday, noon – 8 pm Thursday, noon – 6 Friday and noon – 5 pm Saturday and Sunday.

Wednesday (8/9) —  Head to CityCentre for Moonlight Movies for Kids, the last one of the summer! This month’s free outdoor movie is Sing. Free popcorn begins at 8 pm and the movie begins at 9pm. Located at 801 Town and Country Blvd.

Wednesday (8/9) — Ladies Night is back at Multiplicity Wednesday, 6 pm – 9 pm. This free event provides ladies an evening to enjoy a surprise craft option, light bites and libations. The craft is on a first-come, first-served basis depending on your sign up time. Located at 1306 Avenue A in Katy the second Wednesday each month.
