houston parks rec free curbside meals

The Houston Parks and Recreation Department wants to make sure that no kid goes hungry, so to make it easier for those in need to get a healthy meal, they’re launching a free curbside meal program for kids 18 and younger.

Here are the details:

  • Meals are available at numerous locations (detailed below) from 1-3 pm Monday through Friday
  • To ensure proper social distancing, the staff will load the meal into the trunk of your vehicle
  • Each child will receive a free lunch and a free snack
  • Only children who are present in the vehicle for meal pickup can receive the meal and snack
  • Parents cannot pick up food for children that are not present at pickup

As the program kicks off, it’s expected that each site will have about 50 meals available for handout, so make sure you arrive early to secure yours. If there’s enough demand, the number of available meals could increase up to 200 per site over time.
