It’s a trying time for us all as we try to navigate our way through the coronavirus pandemic, and for those who might be struggling due to their hours being cut at work, local Kroger and H-E-B grocery stores are ramping up hiring with a number of temporary job opportunities.
The stores are seeing a major influx of customers right now, and they’re having a hard time keeping the shelves stocked. Kroger and H-E-B both have modified their hours to allow for more restocking and cleaning time, and in order to get the job done, they’re bringing on more employees.
H-E-B has said they will be hiring overnight stockers, daytime stockers, baggers, and checkers in Houston and many markets all across Houston. Pay rates for these jobs range from $9.50-$15 an hour.
“Texans rely on H-E-B in times of need, and we’re committed to serving our Customers through every challenge. We’re looking for some short term support for our stores,” their website reads. “Texans helping Texans, that’s the H-E-B Way.”

Kroger is also increasing its hiring right now to keep up with the spike in demand, stating in an email that “to help keep our stores stocked with fresh, affordable food and essentials, we’re now hiring with immediate positions available.”
