Theatre Under the Stars (TUTS) Summer Camp Registrations

Things to do in Houston with Kids this Weekend of April 12 Include Disney on Ice: Magic in the Stars, The Amazing Acro-Cats, & More! Theatre Under the Stars (TUTS) is proud to offer two program options for their summer camps!  The River is programming designed specifically for people with disabilities and their siblings;  Humphreys School of Musical Theatre (HSMT) is a more traditional camp program. Both options have the same themes, providing opportunities for all campers!

HSMT

Since 1972, the Humphreys School of Musical Theatre has been committed to providing the Houston area with the very best in theatrical training and performing arts education. It is the goal of HSMT to provide all students who walk through its doors a greater understanding of musical theatre and of themselves – equipping young people with the tools they need to be successful in whatever they choose to do in life. Notable alumni of HSMT include Chandra Wilson (“Grey’s Anatomy”), Kevin Cahoon (“Glow,” “Nurse Jackie”), Stephanie Styles (Kiss Me Kate, Disney’s Newsies) and Sadie Sink (“Stranger Things”).

The River

Founded in 1996, The River provides affordable, accessible arts education to individuals with disabilities and their siblings. After merging with TUTS in 2010, The River’s classes and opportunities expanded to include programming for young adults, an inclusive performance troupe that has performed at many notable events across the city including performing the National Anthem at a Houston Texans game, and the opportunity for students to perform in the TUTS mainstage productions. 

  • Pricing: $215 per week; scholarships are available
  • Location: Metropolitan Multi-Services Center (1475 W Gray St, Houston, TX 77019)

Disney on Ice: Magic in the Stars

Watch your favorite Disney characters come to life on ice this weekend with Disney on Ice: Magic in the Stars! This show has one of the largest casts in Disney on Ice history. It will also feature the cast of Frozen 2, Raya and the Last Dragon, Tiana, Woody and Buzz, Lightning McQueen, Snow White, and more.

The Amazing Acro-Cats

Dogs aren’t the only ones that can put on a show. Get to see a troupe of trained domestic house cats, all former orphans, rescues, and strays give a one-of-a-kind performance. You’ll see them jumping through hoops, riding skateboards, ringing bells, balancing on balls, and performing all other kinds of tricks.

GOFM Market Mile

This event is designed for everyone who walks, eats, runs, loves to learn new things, and/ or drinks Bloody Marys. Participants will get to explore the neighborhood that’s home to the weekly Galveston’s Own Farmer Market. It will be complete with garden tours, live music, and notable historic spots highlighted by Galveston Unscripted. After the race, there will be tamales, kolaches, pastries, coffee, bagels, and bloody Marys.
