Get your appetites ready: this weekend Houston’s own Traders Village hosts their 30th annual BBQ & Chili Cook-Off. The event has proven to be one of the best culinary events of the year, offering Houston-area cooks and chefs the chance to show off the best Texas-style BBQ has to offer. The event is hosted again by the Houston Metro Go-Texan-Cy-Fair Committee of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, meaning proceeds from the Traders Village BBQ & Chili Cook-Off will help fund scholarships for Cy-Fair ISD Seniors. Chili, BBQ, and the chance to help Houston kids go to school? How could this event get any better?

The BBQ & Chili Cook-Off will be held this Saturday and Sunday, January 26 and 27, and is open to the public. Many different types of BBQ and chili will be sold from vendors at the event, so make sure to bring an appetite. The Cook-Offs feature a variety of categories for Texas BBQ chefs to compete in: brisket, pork ribs, chicken, and dutch oven.
Alongside the BBQ and Chili, mixologists can show off what they can do in the margarita and Bloody Mary contests. Nothing goes with BBQ like a tasty adult beverage!
Once you’ve had your fill of margs and meat, you can walk off your meal with a stroll around Traders Village. The 100+ acre market is full of thousands of dealers selling everything under the sun at discount prices. Traders Village is Houston’s largest outdoor shopping experience, offering classic amusement park-style rides (get your wristband for unlimited rides for $9.99 plus tax!), food and drinks, and one of the most unique shopping experiences in the Lone Star State.

The BBQ & Chili Cook-Off will be held on January 26 and 27 from 11 am to 5 pm each day. Competing BBQ chefs, chili cooks, or mixologists can set up on Friday, while Cook-Off activities begin Saturday, January 26 at 11:00 am. Traders Village is open 10:00 am to 6:00 am.
