The weekend is almost here. What are your plans? Here is a snapshot of a few free events and activities to enjoy with family and friends:

astros opening street festParty with the Astros — The Astros Opening Day Street Fest kicks off Sunday, March 31, 1 pm. The fun features live music by Josh Fuller, food trucks, entertainment for all ages, and a pep rally with select players at Minute Maid Park. Tickets are still available to the Opening Night game with J.J. Watt throwing out the first pitch!

Enjoy music outdoorsLive at Night at Waterway Square continues for the spring season March 30, 6 pm – 8 pm. Donnie Simmons Band will be performing Blues/Classic Rock at this special event in The Woodlands. Located between Timberloch Place and Lake Robbins Drive. Prices vary for parking in the area.

Enjoy Easter photo and crafts at Bass Pro Shops — The Easter fun hits Bass Pro Shops this weekend, March 29-31. Families can enjoy crafts, egg hunt at 1 pm Saturday and Sunday, and a free photo with the Easter Bunny Friday 6 pm – 8 pm and Saturday and Sunday from 1 pm – 4 pm. Check online for specific hours of crafts and photos. Bass Pro is located at Katy Mills Mall and in Pearland.

Enjoy a movie under the moon — — The Silent Film series at Discovery Green returns Friday, March 29, 8:30 pm, with The Man with the Movie Camera. Texas indie band Montropolis brings the silent film to life playing the original score. Discovery Green is located at 1500 McKinney downtown.

tom peacock easter party  Celebrate Easter fun — Enjoy a community Easter lunch and party at Tom Peacock Nissan Saturday, March 30, 11 am – 1 pm benefiting Kids’ Meals. Families can attend this free event featuring lunch, Easter bunny photos, face painting, balloon artist, refreshments, and local radio stations. The event is free but a donation to Kids’ Meals is encouraged including items like canned goods, fruit cups, granola bars, peanut butter, gift cards and more. Tom Peacock Nissan is at 15300 I-45.

Watch exciting illusions — Don’t miss a night of magic at Sugar Land Town Square’s Magic in the Plaza Saturday, March 30, 6 pm – 8 pm. The family-friendly entertainment features strolling magic, music, juggling, plus a one-hour Illusion Show by Ted Schwank’s Magic and Illusions.

Enjoy an old-fashioned carnival — Families can head to Bunnyfest Saturday, March 30, 1 pm – 3 pm in The Woodlands. Enjoy games such as cake walk, egg hunts, egg races, face painting, ring toss, coloring contest and more. The Interact Club of five area high schools are putting on this carnival. Located at McCullough Junior High, 3800 S. Panther Creek.

Go fly a kite — Play outdoors at the Caribbean Kite Festival Saturday, March 30, 10 am – 9 pm at Katy Park. Activities include tug-of-war, bounce house, dominos and a kite competition. Katy Park is located at 24927 Morton Road.

CityCentre Dancing Under the StarsDance at CityCentre — CityCentre is always a fun destination! Saturday, March 30, features a variety of music for Dancing Under the Stars ranging from Motown and R&B to today’s hits by Next Level Band  from 7 pm – 10 pm. CityCentre is located at 800 Town & Country Blvd.
