Folks in the Katy area are getting excited! Whole Foods Market Katy opens Wednesday, January 30, with lots of events, activities and giveaways.

First 100 attendees will receive Whole Foods Market gift cards ranging from $5 – $250. As is the tradition, Whole Foods Katy will open with a Bread Breaking ceremony at 7:30 am plus free coffee samples, following the official Chamber Ribbon Cutting at 7 am. The morning will be lively with high school band members and cheerleaders from Seven Lakes High School and Cy Ranch High School. The store officially opens at 8 am. Check out the online schedule that includes face painting, Kids’ Club activities and Whole Trade Roses giveaway registration at 5 pm.

Several local vendors have been brought in just for the Katy store. This location also features a number of firsts, including Houston’s first Specialty Grilled Cheese Station at the Wine and Cheese bar (featuring gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches on hearth baked bread), a Wine and Beer bar with local wine and beer on tap, Houston’s first draft wine-to-go program, and the city’s first A La Marzocco Strada MP in the coffee bar. The Whole Foods Market Katy is located at 6601 South Fry Road in Katy. Its “Organic” sign inside the store is made of recycled rice bags — paying homage to Katy heritage!

All week, the Katy store will be giving a percent of sales to five community organizations. These groups also will be present in the store with crafts or demonstrations on their day:
