The Snow Spectacular arrives on the Gulf Coast on a Saturday every December, ushering in a full winter scene with more than 100,000 pounds of real snow.

More than the snow, the event brings a winter holiday adventure right at home, complete with slides, fluffy play areas, and a North Pole-style atmosphere that feels straight out of a storybook. Kids can zip down snow slides, toddlers can explore their own gentle play zones, and Santa will be greeting visitors for memorable holiday photos. You can also expect to enjoy carnival games, a variety of dishes from food trucks, and holiday music.

How to Get There and Parking

From Downtown Houston, getting to Nessler Park takes around 40 minutes. Here is the fastest route you can take:

  • Start your trip on I-45 South and stay on it for about 40 miles.
  • Take the exit for 20th Street/5th Avenue North
  • Follow the local roads straight to Nessler Park

Drivers looking for alternatives can explore Beltway 8 or the surrounding feeder roads during heavy traffic hours. These routes add extra distance but offer flexibility for those who enjoy quieter roads.

If you’re taking public transit, you have to be prepared to make multiple vehicle transfers. First, take the METRO Line 247 bus from central Houston stops, such as Pierce St @ Fannin St, Milam St @ Preston St, or Congress St @ La Branch St, to the Bay Area Park & Ride. From there, a taxi ride completes the journey to Texas City and Nessler Park.

The full trip usually runs about 1 to 1 hour and 15 minutes, with an overall cost between $55 and $75.

Parking

Nessler Park offers ample and convenient on-site parking areas, giving visitors easy access to the event. Given the park’s massive size, you can usually find a spot without any hassle, then head straight into the festive scene just a short walk away.
