Skip the trips back to the bar. 300 Bowl brings the drinks and food straight to your lane. Cocktails, pitchers of beer, burgers, pizza, popcorn chicken, you order, it comes to you, and the game keeps going.

The bar also stocks several taps alongside bottled options and mixed drinks, and the snack bar even runs breakfast for the early sessions if you want to get a full day of bowling in.

If you’re serious about the sport, the Chasing 300 Pro Shop inside handles ball fitting, drilling, and equipment repairs at a level that competitive bowlers drive across town for.

Alvin Bowling Company

At less than $5 a game with daily specials stacked on top, Alvin Bowling Company is one of the most affordable bowling nights you’ll find in the Houston area, and the snack bar makes it even harder to leave.

The pizza here gets called out by name in reviews consistently enough that it’s clearly doing something right.

Six active leagues run throughout the year if you want more than open bowling; bumpers are available for younger kids, and the lanes stay clean and well-maintained.

If you haven’t made the drive south of the city for this one yet, the combination of the price, the food, and the atmosphere makes it worth doing soon.

Armadilla Lanes II

If you’re serious about your equipment, make a point of getting to Armadilla Lanes II for the pro shop.

The staff’s expertise in ball fitting and drilling has built a following among serious recreational bowlers and league players across southeast Houston who come specifically for that service.

It’s one of two Armadilla locations in the area, and the Fuqua spot has earned its reputation through consistent, well-maintained lanes and strong technical support.

The alley also runs a steady open bowling schedule throughout the week. If you want an alley in southeast Houston where bowling is actually taken seriously, this is the one to go to.

Copperfield Bowl

Bowling Houston - Copperfield Bowl

Copperfield Bowl has been family-owned since 1983, and in that time it’s become one of the few Houston alleys trusted to host the Texas High School Bowling Club.

The Gary James Bowling Supply pro shop inside draws bowlers from across the city for fittings, drilling, and equipment, and 18 active leagues running year-round across youth and adult formats keep the lanes full with people who bowl because they love it, not just because it’s a fun Friday night.

Bring the kids this summer and sign them up for the Copper Kids Club. Children 13 and under get two free bowling games per day from June 1 through August 31, on weekdays and select dates excluding Saturdays and a handful of blackout days.

Where: 15615 Glen Chase Dr, Houston, TX 77095
Opening Hours: Sunday – Tuesday: 10:00 am – 10:00 pm | Wednesday – Thursday: 10:00 am – 11:00 pm | Friday – Saturday: 10:00 am – 12:00 am
How Much: Starts at $5.72 per game | Starts at 31.20 per hour (Varies by day)

Del Mar Lanes

Del Mar Lanes has been on Mangum Road since 1958, and the recent overhaul gave it something no other bowling alley in Texas can offer: UNREAL Bowling, a fully interactive system that uses motion-tracking sensors, infrared cameras, and a projector setup to animate your lane in real time.

On Friday and Saturday nights, every roll you throw triggers a visual show of galaxies, flowing water, piano keys, or laser effects, all tracking the ball down the lane in high definition. It sounds like a gimmick until you’re standing in front of it, and then it makes complete sense why people drive across the city for it.

Come during the week and you’ll find a full league program and a pro shop offering ball fitting, repairs, lessons, and free ball cleaning. They also have a bar and grill called the Brass Monkey that serves in-house made pizza and hosts live music on most weekends.

Where: 3020 Mangum Rd, Houston, TX 77092
Opening Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: 9:00 am – 10:00 pm | Wednesday & Friday: 9:00 am – 12;00 am | Sunday 10:00 am – 10:00 pm
How Much: Price varies, check site

AMF Windfern Lanes

Bowling Houston - AMF Windfern Lanes

AMF Windfern Lanes is one of the last traditional AMF centers still running in Houston, and the 32 lanes here are kept in the kind of condition that makes league bowlers drive past newer, flashier venues to get here instead.

The on-site pro shop handles equipment needs and the facility runs entirely non-smoking. The bar and grill also keeps the group fed and drinking throughout the night, and the arcade section gives anyone who needs a break from the lanes somewhere to land.

Get your reservation in before the weekend hits. This one fills up consistently.

Where: 14441 Northwest Fwy, Houston, TX 77040
Opening Hours: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday 5:00 pm – 11:00 pm | Wednesday and Sunday: 11:00 am – 11:00 pm | Friday: 5:00 pm – 1:00 am | Saturday: 11:00 am – 1:00 am
How Much: Starts at $36 per person for lane reservation | Check their daily promos on their website

Emerald Bowl

Emerald Bowl

Emerald Bowl opens at 9 am every single day of the week, which means you can actually get ahead of the crowds if you time it right. And with 40 lanes, a cocktail lounge, a snack bar, and 17 active leagues running across youth and adult formats, there’s always something going on here regardless of when you show up.

Solid daily deals keep open bowling here affordable, and 17 active leagues running year-round across youth and adult formats mean there’s always a competitive path if you want one.

Where: 9307 Boone Rd, Houston, TX 77099
Opening Hours: Sunday – Thursday: 9:00 am – 12:00 am | Friday – Saturday: 9:00 am – 1:00 am
How Much: Starts at $4.50 per person per game | Starts at $39.99 per hour per lane

Tomball Bowl

Tomball Bowl solved one of the most annoying parts of bowling for mixed groups. The automatic per-bowler bumper system here means bumpers engage for kids on their turn and retract for adults on theirs, on the same lane, without anyone stopping the game to make adjustments.

The 32 fully updated lanes and approaches are also well-kept, the pro shop handles equipment needs for more serious players, and the pricing stays affordable throughout without the fees and surcharges that tend to creep into bigger venues.

You’ve also got to go on the weekends for their glow bowling nights.

Where: 14435 Farm to Market 2920, Tomball, TX 77377
Opening Hours:  Monday – Thursday: 11:00 am – 10:00 pm | Friday: 11:00 am – 12:00 am | Saturday: 10:00 am – 12:00 am | Sunday: 12:00 pm – 10:00 pm
How Much: Starts at $4.50 per game per person | Starts at $25 per lane per hour

UH Student Center Games Room

Most people drive past the UH Student Center Games Room thinking it’s for students, but it’s open to the public.

Inside, you’ll find a 12-lane bowling center, billiards tables, ping pong, darts, and a full video arcade in the basement of Student Center South at some of the most competitive rates you’ll find for bowling in Houston.

Just take note, lane prices vary by day and time, and shoe rentals are free Monday through Friday before 5 pm. Students get the lower end of the pricing, but guest rates are still affordable by any standard in this city.

Friday and Saturday nights run glow bowling from 9 pm to close, and the venue serves beer, ciders, and snacks.

If you bowl regularly and want a more competitive path, you can join the Cougar Bowling Club that competes in the Southwest Intercollegiate Bowling Conference.

Where: 4455 University Dr, Houston, TX 77204
Opening Hours: Monday – Saturday: 10:00 am – 8:00 pm | Sunday CLOSED
How Much: Starts at $2.50 per game per person | Starts at $16 per lane per hour

This is all anchored by a chef-driven restaurant and bar with craft cocktails and a scratch menu. So, basically, you have no reason to leave between activities throughout your stay.

Dave & Busters

Dave & Buster’s on Katy Freeway just came through a full interior remodel, and the additions, which include axe throwing, a human crane, Connect 4 basketball, and an updated arcade alongside the existing bowling lanes, give the venue more to do per square foot than almost anywhere else on this list.

The bowling sits upstairs, the 40-foot WOW Wall screen dominates the sports bar below, and the arcade fills the rest, which means your group can split across all of it simultaneously rather than everyone waiting on the same activity to open up.

The Power Card system runs across all games and activities, and the eat-and-play combos bundle food and game credits into packages.

If you get hungry, you can get burgers, pasta, crab legs, wings, and enough shareables to keep a large group fed for the whole night
