What is La Porte’s Christmas on Main?

Christmas on Main - main

Christmas on Main is La Porte’s annual holiday celebration that turns Main Street into a cheerful, close-knit gathering place every early December.

The celebration brings families like yours and mine together for festive fun, holiday shopping, and lively entertainment in one welcoming spot. Kids can stay happily engaged with free activities and the chance to meet Santa, while parents can enjoy the local vendors, performances, and creative displays.

Local schools and community groups also join the celebration while giving it more of that hometown feel with music, art, and warm, infectious energy, giving you a holiday experience that feels personal, joyful, and deeply connected to La Porte’s traditions.

Tips to Make the Most of Your Christmas on Main Visit

Christmas on the Main 2025 La Porte - Enjoying the time with the kids

  • Arrive early so you can settle in before the crowd builds. The tree lighting and the Kid’s Zone draw big excitement, and getting there a little ahead of time helps you enjoy it all comfortably.

  • Wear comfy shoes for walking Main Street. With the holiday market, performances, and activities spread throughout downtown, it feels great to explore without rushing when you’re wearing comfortable shoes.

  • Bring a small tote or reusable bag for shopping. With over 100 vendors offering handmade treats, gifts, and festive finds, you’ll appreciate having extra room for your discoveries.

  • Keep your phone or camera charged. Between Santa photos, twinkling lights, and live performances, you’ll find plenty of moments worth capturing.

  • Check the weather before you head out. Cooler evenings near the water can feel crisp, and a cozy jacket makes the night much more enjoyable.

  • Use public transit or carpool when you can. Parking fills quickly, and sharing the ride makes your arrival simple and stress-free.

  • Bring a little cash. Not all vendors rely on card readers, so having cash on hand helps you grab treats or gifts without delay.

  • Give yourself time to enjoy the performances. LPISD students put so much heart into their shows, and catching a few ads adds even more charm to your evening.

  • Take breaks and soak in the atmosphere. With lights overhead, music in the air, and families celebrating together, the whole street feels warm and inviting—perfect for slowing down and enjoying the moment.
