The Houston Thanksgiving Parade is one of the city’s biggest holiday traditions, drawing thousands of families like yours and mine to downtown every year. In 2025, the 76th Annual H-E-B Thanksgiving Day Parade once again fills the streets with floats, marching bands, giant balloons, and plenty of hometown pride, and I can’t wait!
Whether you plan to camp out on the curb with hot chocolate, splurge on reserved seating, or watch the broadcast from home, this guide has everything you need to know. This monumental event draws hundreds of thousands to the streets of downtown for a morning of spectacular floats, dazzling performances, and community celebration, here are the quick facts on the Houston Thanksgiving Parade:
Date: Thursday, November 27, 2025
Time: 9:00 am – 1:00 pm
Where: Downtown Houston

The spectacular 2025 Houston Thanksgiving Parade procession will weave its way through the downtown business district. The parade route, like last year, is as follows:

Best Viewing Spots for the Houston Thanksgiving Parade
While all streets will be open by 3:00 pm on the day of the parade, take note of the following planned route street closures:
Parade staging/disbanding between 6:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m:
• Corner of Sabine at Allen Pkwy re-directing traffic coming from Hwy 45 Off Ramp into Sabine
towards Memorial Dr (6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. only)
• Allen Parkway (inbound) between Taft & Bagby
• Bagby (northbound) between Dallas & McKinney
• Bagby (southbound) between Walker & Clay
• Lamar between Louisiana & outbound Allen Parkway at I-45 overpass
• Gillette St. (close midblock – beginning north of The Federal Reserve Bank to Allen Parkway)
Parade route between 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. / Parade begins at 9:00 a.m:
• Smith between Lamar & Walker
• Walker between Smith & Milam
• Milam between Walker & Pease
• Pease between Milam & Louisiana
• Louisiana between Pease & Clay
• Clay between Louisiana & Smith
• Smith between Clay & Dallas / Parade concludes on Smith at Dallas
Localite Tip: Regular Houston Thanksgiving attendees recommend getting to a chosen viewing spot about an hour and a half before the parade starts! So at around 7:30 am, find a spot along 81st and CPW exit to watch the balloons being blown up or the corner of West 68th. If you’re looking for somewhere with a little more space, 72nd street is a little wider!
Parade Lineup, Grand Marshal & Entertainment

The 76th Annual H-E-B Thanksgiving Day Parade, themed “Houston on Parade,” will deliver a thrilling procession of local celebrities, dynamic performers, and spectacular displays through the heart of downtown. The event is a celebration of Houston’s community, culture, and especially its vibrant sports scene, which is highlighted by this year’s leadership.

Grand Marshals: Leading the parade are the beloved mascots of Houston’s major professional sports teams: Toro (Texans), Orbit (Astros), Clutch (Rockets), and Diesel (Dynamo/Dash).

Featured Musicians: The entertainment lineup includes major local vocal talent, such as powerhouse Christina Wells, contemporary Christian star Danny Gokey, soulful singer Kam Franklin (of The Suffers), and country artist Payton Howie.

Theatrical & Dance Acts: Spectators can also look forward to high-energy routines from Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS) performing Broadway numbers and the intricate choreography of SoReal Dance.
The Houston Thanksgiving Parade procession features more than a dozen custom-designed floats, along with spectacular, high-flying helium balloons—including the massive H-E Buddy and a colorful Golden Dragon—all complemented by the festive sounds and synchronized movements of top high school and collegiate marching bands from across the region. The grand finale, as always, will be the arrival of Santa Claus to officially kick off the Christmas season.

While the Houston Thanksgiving Parade is free for all to enjoy, you can buy premium seats! There are no assigned seats and make sure to be at your chosen viewing spot by 8:15. Also, note that seating for the Parade opens at 7:00 am while the entertainment starts at 8:00:
