Diwali celebrations in Houston look a little different at every stop. You can watch live performances at Levy Park, join Bollywood dance lessons at POST Houston, take the kids to a diya-making workshop, or celebrate over a special meal at one of the city’s Indian restaurants.

Festivals and Cultural Events for Diwali in Houston
Houston Diwali – Festival of Lights

Clear your evening, charge your phone, and come hungry. Houston Diwali at Levy Park fills six acres with Indian fashion, jewelry, décor, and vegetarian street food, with stalls opening at 5 p.m.
You can browse the bazaar, get henna done, and catch Bollywood, folk, and semi-classical dance performances before Indo-American pop artist Vidya Vox takes the stage for a live concert. Her mashups blend Bollywood favorites with Western pop, so expect plenty of familiar hooks in the crowd.
Also, make time for the Maha Aarti, a candlelit mass prayer held amid the festival, before the fireworks close out the night.
Bringing little ones? There’s also a Sparkler Safe Zone where they can enjoy the lights.

Asia Society Texas — Diwali Lights!
This cross-cultural retelling of the ancient epic associated with Diwali brings together music and dance traditions from South and Southeast Asia. There are two performances, at 3 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Free festival registration doesn’t include admission to the show, so choose your performance slot when you register.
Once you’re outside the theater, head to the Education Center for Bollywood performances by Tx2 Dance Company, featuring dancers aged 5 to 50. You can even join the dance-along when the performers invite the audience in.
The rest of the afternoon is full of hands-on activities, including diya painting, rangoli, henna, carrom, and Ramayana finger puppets for kids.
When you start feeling peckish, grab Indian food from Filli Café or Madras Pavilion and, of course, save room for ice cream from Gallivant. Then, once you have enough energy again, you can browse the stalls from AVA’s Collection and Designs by Sippy.

HTX Diwali 2026 at POST Houston

Set aside a good chunk of your Saturday for HTX Diwali 2026. Tx2 Dance Company is filling POST Houston with 12 hours of celebrations.
Start with morning yoga on the Skylawn with Black Swan Yoga, explore the market hall and atrium, then stick around for the Grand Diwali Performance Showcase and a rooftop dance party with DJ Sandeep Sulhan.
You can even join in. Tx2 leads Bollywood and Garba lessons, Houston Bhangra Academy brings Bhangra to the rooftop, and a community dance-along closes out the evening.
Don’t forget to keep an eye out for the Diwali Baraat winding through POST Market, a South Asian cultural fashion showcase presented by Dakshin USA, and the House of Devi Art Gallery, which stays open throughout the event.

Diwali: Festival of Lights at Discovery Green

Spend the evening dancing under the downtown Houston skyline at Discovery Green’s first-ever Diwali celebration.
Produced by Tx2 Dance Company, the festival runs from 4 to 10 p.m. at the Anheuser-Busch Stage, with Bollywood dance lessons and performances highlighting styles from across India. You can join a lesson, watch the performers take the stage, or wander between the henna artists, cultural shopping stalls, and local food vendors.
One scheduling detail to keep in mind: Discovery Green’s celebration falls on the same night as Houston Diwali at Levy Park. Discovery Green runs until 10 p.m., while Levy Park offers a later finish with a live concert and fireworks, so check both programs before deciding where to spend your evening.

ISKCON Houston Diwali
At ISKCON Houston’s Diwali Candle-light Aarti, you’ll find hundreds of candles illuminating a temple while devotional singing fills the room. Held on the actual day of Diwali, the ceremony commemorates Lord Ramachandra’s return to Ayodhya, the story at the heart of the holiday.
You’ll witness candles being offered to the deities as part of the worship, followed by Prasadam, a vegetarian feast distributed to everyone present.
The temple has observed Diwali since 1972, and this gathering offers a chance to experience the spiritual side of the celebration away from the crowds and entertainment stages of Houston’s larger public festivals.

India House Diwali Bazaar
Bring your appetite and let the kids loose at the India House Diwali Bazaar, where you can browse traditional Indian attire and jewelry, get henna designs, and sample Indian street food while live entertainment keeps the celebration going.
As for the little ones, they can enjoy a petting zoo, bounce house, face painting, cotton candy, and popcorn.
The bazaar is rooted in Houston’s Indo-American community, which India House has served for more than 45 years.

Children’s Museum Houston Diwali Celebration

At the Children’s Museum Houston’s Diwali celebration, the kids will become part of Diwali’s story.
Silambam Houston, an Indian classical dance company, will lead an interactive storytime where children will use dance movements to bring the holiday’s story to life. The session takes place at noon in the Kid’s Hall Alcove, so make that your first stop if it’s at the top of your list.
Silambam will also hold a special performance in the Brown Auditorium.
Afterward, head to the Alexander Art Academy for hands-on activities such as diya-making, rangoli, and paper crafts. You can also see Rangoli Art on display by Hindus of Greater Houston.
Workshop spaces are limited to around 12–15 children per session and are available on a first-come, first-served basis, so arriving early gives you a better chance of joining in.

Bellaire Diwali
Get ready to join the dancing at Bellaire Diwali, where Rita Singh leads Raas Garba and Dandiya sessions and the crowd gets to take part in the celebration.
This year’s event takes place at the Bellaire Civic Center, with Indian food, live entertainment, and a colorful stage backdrop made from bright saris. Organized by the Bellaire Desi Group, the celebration has brought the local community together for Diwali since at least 2008.
Past editions have featured the Bellaire Bollywood Shakers, a troupe of young dancers aged 5–13, as well as classical Indian dance, tabla performances, and Bollywood karaoke. The open dance floor has even drawn members of the Bellaire Police Department into the festivities.

Festive Diwali Houston Dining & Food Specials
Da Gama Canteen — Diwali Night Market
Head to Da Gama Canteen during Diwali week for a Gujarati thali, a henna session, and a browse through a patio market in The Heights.
Chef-owner Shiva Patel draws on her Indian roots for the special menu, which features vegetarian curry, daal, papadum, mango lassi, and Penda sweets. The restaurant is also known for blending Indian and Portuguese cooking, so you can also explore its regular menu while you’re there.
The night market runs across three evenings, with local vendors, a henna artist, and chaat specials served from the window alongside the usual offerings.
Make Saturday your pick if you want some live music, too: Laura Jane International Vocal Studio is scheduled to perform that night.

Musaafer — Diwali Mithai Box
Bring something special to your Diwali gathering with Musaafer’s limited-time Mithai Box, featuring four handcrafted sweets by Executive Pastry Chef Sumant Sharma.
The Michelin-starred Indian restaurant inside The Galleria gives traditional mithai a contemporary twist, with Pistachio Barfi, Besan Ladoo Pebbles, Hazelnut Motichoor Truffle, and Mawa Tart filled with salted caramel and pecan pudding.
The box is available to order from October 15 through November 8, 2026, through Musaafer’s website under “Celebration Cakes.”

Pondicheri Cafe – Diwali Thali
Make room for a festive Indian feast at Pondicheri Café, where the Diwali menu is available for two days only, November 7–8.
The Diwali thali comes with biryani, samosa, raita, and a small salad, with three combinations to choose from. Go vegetarian with mushroom and paneer biryani, a Meena Bazaar samosa, and tomato broth. There’s also a Rajasthani lamb biryani thali with a black sesame chicken samosa and yogurt kadhi for $42.
Just note that all the biryanis contain toasted cashews.
You can also bring the sweetness of Diwali home with Pondicheri’s mithai and laddu boxes. The Mithai Dabba includes five varieties, from pistachio and besan laddus to Pondi Bar Laddu, a sweet, spicy, crunchy creation made with Bombay mix and marshmallows.
