  • Parking Logistics: Paid garages are located at MFAH, HMNS, and the Children’s Museum. For free or affordable parking, look for street parking around Montrose Boulevard or park at the Hermann Park central lot.
  • METRORail Transit: Avoid traffic by taking the METRORail Red Line directly to the Museum District Station or Hermann Park/Hospital Center Station.

Yes, the district is divided into four concentrated zones that are very walkable. However, traveling between opposite ends (e.g., from The Menil Collection to HMNS) is best done via a quick 5-minute rideshare, bike rental, or METRORail ride.

What days are museums free in Houston?

Thursday is the primary free admission day in Houston. MFAH, Children’s Museum Houston, The Health Museum, and Holocaust Museum Houston all host free hours on Thursdays. HMNS offers free admission on Tuesday afternoons.

Where do you park for the Museum District?
