Family-friendly Houston Juneteenth Events
2025 Juneteenth Family Fun Day

Attendees can enjoy a vendor market, food trucks, music, giveaways, and art installations. The event features performances by the Emancipation Senior Line Dancers and a tribute to Rev. Jack Yates by L.A.V.A.
The Sheila Jackson Lee Exhibition runs from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Cultural Center, which will also host a movie screening from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The pool will be open, and the splash pads will be activated. Yep, this is probably where you’ll find my family.

Juneteenth Celebration at The Heritage Society

All are cordially invited to our annual Juneteenth events and tours from May 16 to June 19, 2025, when we commemorate the announcement of the abolition of slavery to enslaved people in Texas on June 19, 1865, in Galveston.

Juneteenth is here and I’m so excited! Enjoy our many activities that embrace and celebrate the African American spirit, including a special performance!?
The oldest national commemoration of the ending of slavery, Juneteenth, truly celebrates freedom for all. On June 19, 1865, Union soldiers arrived in Galveston to inform enslaved African-Americans of their freedom, putting into effect the Emancipation Proclamation. Today, Juneteenth celebrates education, achievement, and freedom. Celebrate this pivotal moment in American history!

Juneteenth 160 Fest – Talent Show
Come out and cheer on Houston’s next generation of stars as local artists take the Gregory Stage to share their gifts through song, dance, poetry, and more!

Juneteenth Crawfish Boil at Third Ward Financial Center
Join me to celebrate Juneteenth at the 3rd annual Crawfish Boil. Hosted at our Third Ward Financial Center, we’ll have crawfish, sides, music, and more! This event is free and open to the public.

A Juneteenth Celebration at Bayou Bend

Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens invites you and me to this family-centered program in honor of the Juneteenth holiday. Enjoy performances, an art-making workshop, and more, all with a focus on Black history.

Celebrating Black History! Express Children’s Theatre – Children’s Play

This show presents the unique role African Americans play in American history including leaders, scientists, artists, athletes, inventors and visionaries such as Queen Nefertiti, Henry “Box” Brown, Geroge Washington Carver, Jesse Owens, Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King, Simone Biles, Ketanji Brown Jackson, President Barack Obama and Vice-President Kamala Harris and others.
A rousing celebration for all ages and backgrounds, featuring original poetry by two Houston Poet Laureates. Performers include a backup singer for Whitney Houston and a Broadway World nominee. And kids can take photos with the cast after the show!
