Great Masters Art Exhibit at POST HTX

Fomento Cultural Citibanamex, POST Houston, and NViVo.us are collaborating on the Great Masters art exhibit, an exhibition made up of Mexican masterpieces. The collection gathers the works of Remigio Mestas, Carlomagno Pedro, and Jacobo and María Ángeles, three of the most iconic artists (or artistic duos), to give audiences a foundation in Mexican art that helps them better understand the richness of Mexican folk art and history.

Fans of fishing will love the chance to see the latest and greatest in boats, coolers, and fishing rods at this five-day convention of all things fishing. Throughout the event, experts will be leading clinics on the sport, including special clinics for kids over the weekend, complete with prizes.

Everybody with a well-socialized dog is invited to bring them to join in a 4-legged parade this Saturday. All dogs with an adult to lead them on the leash are welcome to join in. After the parade, dogs can enter a costume contest, where the best-dressed can win a cash prize.  There will also be a sweepstakes drawing for dogs who walk in the parade to win prizes from dog-friendly vendors on site. Free Rads Street Trio will provide musical entertainment. The event will help raise funds to repair the dog runs at Discovery Green.

An Uncommon Chevalier at the Hobby

Enjoy a concert composed by Joseph de Bologne, a knight who served Louis XV as a guard and became the favorite of Marie Antoinette in the 1770s. With a violin concerto from him, one of his contemporaries, and a symphony he commissioned, the audience will be transported to a pre-French Revolution concert hall for a taste of history before everything changed.

Things to do in Houston this Week –  Events at the Buffalo Bayou

Buffalo Bayou is another great place for week-day activities. In 2022, they have an ongoing series of Buffalo Bayou Wellness Walks that takes place every Wednesday from 6:30 pm to 8 pm.

Laura Conely, the founder of Urban Paths, leads a free Wellness Walk with Buffalo Bayou Partnership. Anyone is welcome to walk along Buffalo Bayou Park’s walkways while discussing issues such as mental and physical wellness, as well as the benefits of being in nature.

Things to do in Houston this Week – Fitness & Art Activities

If you are looking to stay fit by working out in the outdoors, Houston has some great cheap and even free options. Very often, there are Zumba sessions at Midtown Park every Tuesday evening and there are also HIIT workouts at the Levy Park led by the Preserve Gym.

If you are looking for Art related events during the week in Houston, there are options for you as well!

The Lawndale Art Center has a series called They, Who Sound featuring experimental sound, improvisational music, sounds, the sounding of art, the performance of art, and so forth.

We are lucky to be in a city that has a great set of museums. If you are interested in Science there is the HMNS – Houston Museum of Natural Sciences. It is a great place to bring your family or visit with your friends who love seeing and learning about the different species that roamed the earth in the past and in the present.

There is also the Health Museum, which encourages kids to take care of their bodies. Then there is the Space Center Museum, the Lone Star Flight Museum, and others. Check out our post on 14 Houston Museums that are a Must – Visit!
