Theatre Under the Stars (TUTS) is proud to offer two program options for their summer camps!  The River is programming designed specifically for people with disabilities and their siblings;  Humphreys School of Musical Theatre (HSMT) is a more traditional camp program. Both options have the same themes, providing opportunities for all campers!

HSMT

Since 1972, the Humphreys School of Musical Theatre has been committed to providing the Houston area with the very best in theatrical training and performing arts education. It is the goal of HSMT to provide all students who walk through its doors a greater understanding of musical theatre and of themselves – equipping young people with the tools they need to be successful in whatever they choose to do in life. Notable alumni of HSMT include Chandra Wilson (“Grey’s Anatomy”), Kevin Cahoon (“Glow,” “Nurse Jackie”), Stephanie Styles (Kiss Me Kate, Disney’s Newsies), and Sadie Sink (“Stranger Things”).

The River

Founded in 1996, The River provides affordable, accessible arts education to individuals with disabilities and their siblings. After merging with TUTS in 2010, The River’s classes and opportunities expanded to include programming for young adults, an inclusive performance troupe that has performed at many notable events across the city including performing the National Anthem at a Houston Texans game, and the opportunity for students to perform in the TUTS mainstage productions.

Registration:

Each participating walker aged 11+ MUST donate or raise a minimum of $50 to participate in the walk, or your team needs to raise enough as a whole to cover each walker signed up ($50 x Number of Walkers on your team = Total fundraising dollars needed).

Houston area is home to a number of lakes where you can enjoy swimming, fishing, boating and more.

Kinder Lake is a smaller man-made lake in the middle of the urban park, Discovery Green. While you won’t be able to fish or swim, there are kayaks available for rent.

Lake Conroe is one of the prettiest and most popular lakes in the Houston area.  21,000 acres of water means there’s plenty of fish to go around. Lake Conroe is a good spot for catfish, bass, and bluegill. It’s also a great place to go swimming in clear, freshwater, or go boating.
