On  November 11, 2023, the City of Houston will honor its veterans with a ceremony and parade. The parade will begin at the intersection of Dallas and Bagby Streets and proceed east on Dallas, north on Louisiana, west on Walker, south on Smith, west on Lamar, and end at the intersection of Lamar and Bagby Streets.

The ceremony will feature acknowledgments and a distinguished keynote speaker recognizing local heroes. At the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, there will be a Moment of Silence in memory of the 102nd anniversary of the signing of the Armistice, which ended World War I.

The Pearland Veterans Day Walk is a 4k (2.5 mile) or 1 mile walk/run that takes place on Veterans Day, November 11, 2023, in Pearland, Texas. The walk begins and ends in the parking lot of the Pearland Natatorium & Recreation Center, located at 4141 Bailey Road.

On-site registration and check-in will be from 7:15 – 8:15 am, and the walk will begin at 8:45 am. The cost to register is $20 per person in advance or $25 per person on-site the day of the Walk. Children under 17 can be registered for free if accompanied by a registered adult.

Proceeds from the walk benefit local Pearland area non-profits that help Veterans and the families of Veterans battling PTSD and other service-related challenges.

Veteran’s Day Celebration

The Buffalo Soldiers National Museum (BSNM) is hosting a special event on Veterans Day, November 11, 2023, to honor our nation’s veterans. Admission is free and open to the public.

The event will begin at 9 AM with a Presentation of Colors by the Greater Houston Chapter 9th & 10th Horse Cavalry Association and the singing of the National Anthems by students from Michael E. DeBakey High School for the Health Professions. The Consulate General of France will also lay a wreath in honor of WWI veterans.

This event is a great opportunity to learn more about the history of the Buffalo Soldiers and to honor our nation’s veterans for their service.
