The Health Museum Summer Camps
If your child’s idea of summer fun is like mine and includes wearing a lab coat, cracking forensic cases, or building rockets to Mars, then The Health Museum’s Discovery Summer Camps are where science meets serious fun. The best part is that these are not your average glue-stick-and-crayon camps.
Here, kids step into the shoes of surgeons, chemists, veterinarians, and space engineers, all while having the time of their lives.
Camp will be filled with expert-led sessions, real dissections, brainy games, and imaginative projects, making each day feel like a new episode of Bill Nye meets Grey’s Anatomy only for kids. Explore what The Health Museum summer camps offer for various ages below.

The Health Museum Summer Camps 2025 – Highlights by Age Group
Ages 5–7: Playful Science Meets Big Discovery
At this age, kids learn best by doing. So the camps for these little ones are filled with colorful experiments, movement-friendly activities, and sensory-rich projects that let little hands and minds get delightfully messy in the name of learning. Each camp will feel like a big adventure, just with more giggles and laughs.

Some of the best Health Museum Summer Camps for this age group, I think, include:
- Mini iCan STEM: This camp is perfect for your pint-sized problem-solver. Here, they’ll be constructing cool contraptions, learning about biomedical engineering. creating a prosthetic limb, becoming a spy, and digging into the messy but fun side of science.
- Mini Vet: Little animal lovers will go wild in this camp! Kids learn how to care for furry (and feathered) patients using real stethoscopes and microscopes. They’ll also get to dissect owl pellets (gross but cool!), identify animal bones, and even make their model skeletons.
- DNA Discoveries: In this camp, kids become junior geneticists, learning about what makes them them through colorful, hands-on projects that explain big ideas in a playful, digestible way. They’ll have hands-on activities like designing 3D DNA models and performing DNA extraction on fruit.
Ages 8–10: Hands-On Science and Exploration
This is the age where kids crave independence and deeper exploration, and the Health Museum Discovery Summer Camps offer just that. The camps are designed to challenge and excite, allowing the kids to combine real lab skills with fascinating science themes.

Expect lots of hands-on discovery, “aha!” moments, and experiments that make learning stick. Some of their best camps include:
- Camp Neuron: Here, the kids will get up close with real human and sheep brains, make edible neuron snacks, and learn how memory, reflexes, and perception work through wild hands-on demos. It might be a little gross, but it surely will be fun and exciting.
- Junior Chemist: This camp is for the kids who love mixing things up and watching the most fascinating reactions. Get their lab coats ready because they’ll be doing tons of fun experiments like turning lemon into a battery, making Mountain Dew glow, and creating a rain cloud in a jar.
- Camp CSI: Channel your kid’s inner detective with fingerprint analysis, crime scene investigations, and DNA decoding challenges. In this camp, they’ll learn the science behind solving mysteries while working in teams to crack their simulated cases, CSI, kid-style!
Ages 11–13: Advanced STEM Adventures
For the older kids who want more depth, more challenges, and more autonomy, the Health Museum Discovery Summer Camp is a great option.

These immersive programs blend real-world science with career exploration, giving pre-teens a genuine taste of what it’s like to be in medicine, engineering, or tech. If your child is already dreaming big, this camp will help them prepare to reach those dreams. Some of the best ones yet include:
- Mini Medical School I & II: This flagship camp feels like med school for middle schoolers. Campers will learn CPR, use stethoscopes, dissect organs, and even scrub up like surgeons. Each day will dive into different systems of the human body with interactive labs and real tools.
- Kitchen Chemistry: In this flavorful fusion of science and cooking, campers transform into culinary chemists. They’ll delve into the science of cooking by baking bread, exploring fermentation, and experimenting with intriguing substances like oobleck—a non-Newtonian fluid made from cornstarch and water. Partnering with the University of Houston’s Nutrition Program, the experience is going to get messy, tasty, and highly educational.
- Drone Camp: Get ready for a high-flying adventure at Drone Camp! The kids will program Tello Drones to zoom over Mission Pads, perform flips, and pull off awesome aerial tricks that will wow their friends. The camp will also push the boundaries of their creativity as they learn coding skills and design daring drone challenges.
