The Sound of Music at the George Theatre – What to Expect
The Sound of Music has a talented cast, supported by a top-tier team of designers and creatives. Emily Tello Speck, who was Director and Choreographer for A.D. Players West Side Story back in 2019 is returning as Director and Choreographer for The Sound of Music.
In her show notes Emily shares, “Let it not be lost on us the timeliness of A.D. Players’ production. We were originally slated for the spring of 2020, and I believe that producing this show in 2022 has a greater impact, not only because of the pandemic, but also because of the horrific war in Ukraine. The parallels to the political unrest of the late-1930s are uncanny and the stories of the millions of people who have been displaced are also being told, in a sense, through this one. Georg von Trapp asked each of his children “you can have your home and your friends and stay, or you can have your faith and your honor and leave – which do you choose?” The rest is history.”
The Sound of Music presented by James Craig Furnishings will wrap up A.D. Players 55th Season.
The Sound of Music opens Friday July 8th with preview performances on Wednesday July 6th and Thursday July 7th. Performances run Wednesday through Sunday until August 14th.
