In celebration of International Women’s Day, Insomnia Gallery will present the 6th Annual Women’s Art Showcase. The event will feature about two dozen women artists and their wonderful works. So come on, support their works, or simply admire the art that they contribute to the world.

Celebrate St. Patrick’s day with the rest of Houston at the 62nd Annual Houston St. Patrick’s Parade and Celebration. Aside from the parade which will begin and end at Post, the day will also be filled with various fun activities. This includes games, Irish performances, an outdoor market, food, a life DJ, and so much more.

Buffalo Bayou Partnership Regatta

Get ready to join the largest canoe and kayak race in Texas! Participants aged 12 and above can compete in solo, tandem, or unlimited boating categories. You can also just paddle for fun along a 15-mile stretch of Buffalo Bayou. If you just want to watch, then you can cheer the participants along the race route and at the finish line at Allen’s Landing. Finish line festivities will start at 11 am and end at 2 pm.

You and your human pals aren’t the only ones who can celebrate St. Patrick’s! At St. Pawtrick’s Day, you and your furry friend can enjoy tons of dog-themed activities. This includes a Treat Toss, a Diggin’ for Gold competition, Irish coffee, food trucks, local beer, a vendor market, dog adoptions, prizes, and so much more. 

The first 500 people will receive a free swag bag upon entry. And the first 350 beer/ combo tickets sold will get a free commemorative glass. 

While the event is free, registration is required for entry. Proceeds from the event will go to Houston Pets Alive!, a local animal rescue aiming to save the lives of at-risk companion cats and dogs and find them loving homes.

Pipilotti Rist: Pixel Forest and Worry Will Vanish Opening Day

Enjoy the Museum of Fine Arts Houston’s latest in its series of grand-scale immersive presentations this weekend. This presentation will bring together two works from the Museum’s collections, “Pixel Forest” and “Worry Will Vanish.” 

“Pixel Forest” features 3000 LED lights encased in resin spheres suspended from the ceiling on cables. Each light is also controlled by a signal so that the forest is constantly changing. Swiss artist Pipilotti Rist, the maker of the presentation describes it as a digital image that has exploded in space. 

“Worry Will Vanish,” on the other hand, is an enchanting video footage that will take you on a dreamlike journey through a natural landscape, the human body, and the heavens.
