When is Juneteenth 2023?

Juneteenth is the celebration of the anniversary of June 19, 1865, when Union soldiers landed in Galveston to officially tell slaves in Texas that they were free. Juneteenth is now an official federal holiday, so there’s more reason than ever to celebrate with the different June teenth events we’ve got lined up.

This is one of the Juneteenth events that brings together seven historically Black communities from across Houston to celebrate the richness of our culture, pay homage to the pioneers of Juneteenth, and experience jubilee in a way that is uniquely our own.

Juneteenth Liberation Market

Kick off your Juneteenth celebration with the Liberation Market presented by SOA Co. Books in collaboration with CAMH! Support local vendors and Black literary arts at the Museum!
